*1 May 2013: Bothaville, Free State: Christo Viljoen (47) was shot through his neck at his home by 3 black men.
*1 May 2013: Klerksdorp, Northwest: Babs Roos (70) was attacked in her home. She was assaulted, robbed and murdered.
*1 May 2013: Sonlandpark, Gauteng: Heleen Robbertse (74) was attacked, tied up, bitten and robbed in her home. Her leg was severely injured and she has to receive ARV’s because one of the attackers bit her in order to remove her jewelry from her vingers.
*2 May 2013: Amanzimtoti, Natal: Rudy Zwarts was attacked at his home and left unconscious after being beaten on the side of his head with a brick.
*2 May 2013: Greenhills, Gauteng: A 60-yeard old lady was attacked and murdered in her Greenhills home. Her 89-year-old mother-in-law was severely assaulted by 3 black men.
*3 May 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: Alex Walkinshaw, his partner Lindie and 11 year old daughter Jayden were attacked and severely assaulted in their Pretoria home by 5 black men.
*4 May 2013: Piet Retief, Natal: Elderly Roux-couple, 74 & 71, were attacked on their Piet Retief farm by a gang of black men wielding pangas.
*5 May 2013: Nelspruit, Mpumalanga: Two young girls were attacked with pangas by 3 black men while visiting the Lowveld Botanicaal Gardens.
*5 May 2013: Brits, Northwest: Sampie van Aardt was severely injured during a botched highjacking. He was beaten up and stabbed with a screwdriver by a gang of black men near Brits.
*6 May 2013: Bloemfontein, Free State: Ryan McCrae (24) was attacked an assaulted near his parents home in Bloemfontein. His attackers attempted to strangle him before robbing him en fleeing.
*6 May 2013: Makwassie, Northwest: Martin Coetsee (66) was attacked on his farm in Makwassie by a gang of black men. He was severely injured, beaten and dragged around his house by his ears. He is still in intensive care.
*6 May 2013: Johannesburg, Gauteng: Juliette Rutte (62) was attacked and beaten in her home in Northclliff, Johannesburg.
*7 May 2013: Ixopo, Natal: Peter Hackland (61) was murdered on his farm in Ixopo in Natal. His daughter and mother were also hurt during the attack.
*8 May 2013: Wellington, Western Cape: Daan and Erka Rousseau were murdered in their home in Wellington. They suffocated to death when their attackers put plastic bags over their heads.
*9 May 2013: Kempton Park, Gauteng: Gerald Carey was attacked and severely beaten with a baseball bat by 2 black police officers because he refused to pay them a bribe.
*9 May 2013: Kraaifontein, Western Cape: Clive and Vicky were attacked and severely injured on their Small holding in Kraaifontein in die Western Cape.
*9 May 2013: Vredekloof, Western Cape: A man was held up in Vredekloof by 2 attackers. He was badly beaten and his jaw and cheekbone were shattered.
*10 May 2013: Kempton Park, Gauteng: A 22-year old woman was beaten and raped by 4 black men in police uniform and vehicle near Kempton Park. Police are denying any responsibility and claims it is a gang they have now dubbed “The blue light gang”.
*10 May 2013: Centurion, Gauteng: A man and his disabled son were attacked by 3 black men in their Centurion home. They were both brutally assaulted and the 35-year old son was shot in his face.
*10 May 2013: Witbank, Mpumalanga: Nick Reynders (59) and his son, Dawid (38) were highjacked at their home in Witbank. They were taken away in different directions by the group. Nick was severely assaulted and escaped by pretending to be dead. His son was dragged behind the vehicle and stabbed 12 times. He is in hospital.
*11 May 2013: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape: Vernon Grant (95) was attacked, tied up and robbed in his Port Elizabeth home by 3 black men.
*11 May 2013: Benoni, Gauteng: Gerhard du Preez (71) was attacked and hit in his face with a block of cement by a black man he had just offered a job. He is still in hospital in a very serious condition.
*11 May 2013: Northcliff, Gauteng: Gus Silber (56), his wife and two daughters were attacked, tied up, held up with guns and robbed in Northcliff.
*12 May 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: Hein van der Merwe (22) cyclist was pushed off the road and assaulted by 3 black men in suits and a diplomatic vehicle.
*12 May 2013: Rustenburg, Northwest: At and Winifred Janse van Rensburg were attacked on their farm in Buffelspoort by a gang of black men who ambushed them when they returned home. They were severely injured. Winifred is still in intensive care and suffered a fractured scull and has bleeding on the brain.
*13 May 2013: Makwassie, Northwest: Tom Pieterse was brutally attacked in his home in the town of Makswassie.
*13 May 2013: Johannesburg, Gauteng: Kenny, a 75-year-old man was attacked, murdered and set alight while walking home in Linmeyer.
*14 May 2013: Nigel, Gauteng: Rui Moutinho (37) was brutally murdered in his home in Nigel. His body was only discovered 2 days later.
*14 May 2013: George, Western Cape: Cathy Stander was attacked at her Blanco home while her husband was out jogging. She was held up with a knife and robbed of a laptop.
*14 May 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: Fred van den Bergh (58) and his wife, Cosette (55) were attacked in their Faerie Glen home. Fred was shot dead and his wife badly beaten.
*15 May 2013: Johannesburg, Gauteng: 20-year-old girl raped by a gang of armed black men during an attack at her parents’ home in Glenvista.
*16 May 2013: Koster, Northwest: Farm attack on Kobus Bester on his farm Steekbokfontein in Koster.
*16 May 2013: Boksburg, Gauteng: Frank de Bie (67) was attacked in his home in Boksburg. His was stabbed in his shoulder and arm. Hit over the head and tied up. His dog was shot and he was robbed.
*17 May 2013: Rustenburg, Northwest: Johnny Nelson and his wife were attacked on their farm in Broedersput. Johnny was badly injured and taken to hospital.
*17 May 2013: New Germany, Natal: William Sharman was shot and killed by 4 black attackers in New Germany for his lunch box.
*17 May 2013: Balmoral, Limpopo: Les and Gale Adlam were attacked on their farm on Balmoral road. Both badly injured. Les still unconscious.
*17 May 2013: Sabie, Mpumalanga: Pieter and Lena Theunissen were attacked, badly injured and robbed in Sabie.
*17 May 2013: Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng: Ferdie Richards was Highjacked near Bronkhorstspruit by 4 black males. He was severely injured, tied up and dumped in the veld.
*17 May 2013: Rustenburg, Northwest: Ben Pieterse found 3 black men in his daughter’s house on their farm near Rustenburg. When he surprised them he was shot in his leg but managed to take the weapon and shoot one of the attackers.
*18 May 2013: Heidelberg, Gauteng: A farmer and his family were attacked in their home by 2 black men while having supper. They managed to overpower their attackers. 1 Fled, but the other is in hospital.
*19 May 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: Francois le Grange (51) was murdered in his home in Les Marias, Pretoria. His was beaten to death with a rock and his car was stolen.
*19 May 2013: Glen Hills, Natal: Karen Daley (43), her son Matthew (13), husband Mark (47) and Mother Elly (72) were attacked in their home in Glen Hills. They were held at gun point, Karen was groped and het mother kicked in the stomach while being robbed.
*19 May 2013: Alberton, Gauteng: Leslie Rabie, the manager of a guesthouse in Alberton, was assaulted by 15 black men who were reportedly drunk after returning from a wedding, making a noise and damaging property. When she ask them to be quiet, she was beaten with a knobkierie. The police found the incident funny and asked her to refund the guests for their stay. None of the men were arrested.
*19 May 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: A young white male in his 20’s was walking home after visiting a friend in Queenswood, Pretoria, when he was attacked, beaten and raped by a black man.
*20 May 2013: Krugersdorp, Gauteng: A 57-year-old white man was attacked in his home in Dorothy Road, Heuningklip, by 4 black attackers. He was shot through the neck. His current condition is unknown.
*20 May 2013: Middelburg, Mpumalanga: Hein van Tonder (30) was attacked while walking home by 2 black and 1 coloured man. He was pushed down a flight of stairs, broke his ankle, stabbed in the shoulder and robbed of his cellphone, wallet, ID book and other personal belongings. He is a barman and is now unable to work due to his injuries.
*21 May 2013: Sudwala, Natal: Gerhard Coetzee and his wife were attacked on their farm near Sudwala. Gerhard was severely injured and taken to hospital. The 5 attackers fled with 2 hunting rifles and a 9mm pistol.
*21 May 2013: Hluhluwe, Natal: PJ Hassard was attacked on his farm in Hluhluwe in KZN by 5 black men. He was shot in the abdomen and is currently in a critical condition in hospital.
*21 May 2013: Kayalami, Gauteng: Lizelle Webster, her husband and daughter where attacked and robbed in their home in Kayalami. They were held at gunpoint and the attackers threatened to rape them. Her husband was severely beaten and taken to hospital.
*22 May 2013: Springs, Gauteng: Kobus Larrem was shot and killed by a highjacker who demanded is car keys as he left home for work in Eastvale, Springs.
*23 May 2013: Stellenbosch, Western Cape: Wilhelm en Marina Burger were attacked on their Stellenbosch farm at 3 am in the morning. They were robbed of weapons, cellphones and jewelry.
*23 May 2013: Kemptonpark, Gauteng: Jenny Lachenicht, who was attacked and beaten with a garden shovel on 28 April by 2 black men, died in ICU today. She never regained consciousness after the attack.
*23 May 2013: Muldersdrift, Gauteng: Morne Nel (32) was shot and killed during an attack on him, his girlfriend and 2 children at their Muldersdrift home.
*23 May 2013: Kemptonpark, Gauteng: Salmon Ferreira (79) and his wife Rentia (78) were attacked, assaulted and robbed in the Oranjehof Retirement home in Bonaero Park.
*23 May 2013: Bryanston, Gauteng: Odette Scrooby-Joubert (ex miss SA) was attacked, repeatedly hit over the head and robbed at gunpoint in her Bryanston home.
*24 May 2013: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape: An 82-year old woman was attacked, assaulted and robbed in her Summerstrand home in Port Elizabeth.
*24 May 2013: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape: An 80-year old woman was attacked, raped and robbed in Walmer in Port Elizabeth.
*24 May 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: Gerrie Putter was attacked by 4 black men on his smallholding in Haakdoornboom in Pretoria. He was shot in his back. He is in a critical condition in hospital.
*24 May 2013: Elsburg, Gauteng: Annebe Lategan was raped, murdered and dumped in the veld near Elsburg. She was naked when found and her throat was slit.
*24 May 2013: Greytown, Natal: Dave Maratos (65) was attacked and stabbed to death on a farm in the Greytown district.
*24 May 2013: Piketberg, Western Cape: Traudel Kretschmer (76) was murdered by 3 attackers in her home near Piketberg at 7pm. Her body was discovered the next day. She was bound, beaten over the head and strangled. They stole a cellphone and necklace.
*25 May 2013: Welkom, Free State: Marelize Barnes was attacked and gang raped in Allanridge at a Gold Laboratory by a gang of 8 black attackers who also tortured and brutally assaulted her colleagues for 4 hours.
*25 May 2013: Rustenburg, Northwest: Johan Janse van Rensburg and his wife were attacked by a gang of black men in their home in Safarituine, Rustenburg. Johan was shot to death and his wife was shot and brutally assaulted. She is in hospital.
*26 May 2013: Durbanville, Western Cape: A 65-year old White man was shot execution style during a robbery in Durbanville. He died on the scene.
*27 May 2013: Willowvale, Eastern Cape: Carmen Manthe (37) died today after being in a coma for a week. She, and her Mom Denise, were attacked by 3 black men with axes and knives in Willowvale. Carmen was attacked while in the shower.
*27 May 2013: Linmeyer, Gauteng: A 75-year old woman was attacked in her home in Linmeyer. She was badly beaten, dragged around her home and robbed by 3 black men.
*28 May 2013: Nelspruit, Mpumalanga: An elderly couple were attacked in their home in Nelspruit by 2 black males, one of whom was their gardener. The 61-year old man was shot twice but survived.
*28 May 2013: Pietersburg, Limpopo: Deon Jardim (31), an off duty police officer, was shot in front of his house in the presence of his 2 daughters by 3 attackers. He was shot in the chest and the bullet narrowly missed his heart.
*28 May 2013: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape: A young mother was attacked and raped in her home in Port Elizabeth by a black man with dreadlocks and a scar on his face.
*29 May 2013: Springs, Gauteng: Jeandre van Rensburg was murdered in Springs. His throat was slit by a Pakistani in the bathroom of a night club.
*30 May: Worcester, Western Cape: Freek van Niekerk (26) was found on a farm near Wolsely. He was abducted in Worcester. Shot dead and dumped on the farm. The attacker fled with his vehicle, which was later found deserted in Worcester.
*31 May 2013: Carletonville, Gauteng: Johan Raats, a father of 4 small children, was murdered in Carltonville in an attempted highjacking. He was shot in the head when trying to escape the highjackers.
*1 June 2013: Frankfort, Free State: A woman was attacked, assaulted and raped in her home in Reenen Street by 2 Black men.
*1 June 2013: Westville, Natal: Freddie Lewis, his wife and 2 daughters were attacked in their home by 6 Black men. Freddie was shot 3 times but managed to get the attackers out of his house. He is currently in hospital.
*1 June 2013: Bloemfontein, Free State: Laure Amicke was attacked near the Waterfront by 2 Black men. She was robbed and stabbed in her back and suffered damage to her lung.
*1 June 2013: Durban, Natal: A young man named Trevor was highjacked and beaten over the head with a panga. The attackers stole is cellphone and wallet and left him in the car for dead. He is currently in a critical condition in Glenwood Hospital.
*1 June 2013: Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng: A 54-year-old man, his wife and 28-year-old son were attacked in their home in George Grey Street by 3 Black men. The man was shot and his son beaten over the head with a metal object. The wife sustained no injuries but was also admitted to hospital and treated for severe shock.
*1 June 2013: Sun Valley, Gauteng: A group of friends were attacked in the home of their host in Stirrup Road by 2 Black men while having a braai. One of the guests was shot and is currently in Sunninghill hospital. The others were tied up, beaten and robbed of their cellphones.
*1 June 2013: Fochville, Gauteng: Albert van Emmenis, an elderly farmer, was attacked by 8 black men on his farm. He was beaten over the head with a metal rod and suffered a broken arm. Only a cellphone was stolen. His wife discovered him in the house.
*3 June 2013: Queenstown, Eastern Cape: Dudley Buss (67) was murdered on his farm and stuffed into a freezer. One of his attackers has been arrested. He was found in an informal settlement nearby.
*3 June 2013: Boksburg, Gauteng: Michael Zafiris (42) was higjacked and murdered. His body was found in the veld in Blesbokspruit in Springs.
*3 June 2013: Brits, Northwest: Elderly farmer, Gert Fourie and his wife, Elsa, were attacked on their farm, Magalieskruin by 3 black men. They were severely beaten and Gert suffered head injuries inflicted with a metal object.
*4 June 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: A family was attacked on Plot 40 Wattle Street, Swasina Park, at 5am by 3 Black men. They were tied up, beaten and their car was stolen.
*5 June 2013: Brits, Northwest: Baby Jordaan (79) was attacked and beaten in her home in Bokkiepark by 2 Black men.
*5 June 2013: Nelspruit, Mpumalanga: A 70-year-old farmer was attacked in his home. He is badly bruised but managed to keep his cellphone hidden from his attackers and while they were busy elsewhere in his house, me managed to call for help. The attackers fled when they heard the vehicles approaching.
*5 June 2013: Rivonia, Gauteng: A family of 4 were attacked in their home by 3 Black men. The woman went outside to put out the trash when the men attacked. She ran into the house and the attackers followed. They shot the father in front of his wife and children and fled. The man died on arrival at the hospital.
*6 June 2013: George, Western Cape: Jan Barendse (73) was attacked in his home and stabbed 5 times. He was discovered in a pool of blood in front of his bathroom. He is in a critical condition in George Mediclinic.
*6 June 2013: Springbok, Northern Cape: A 73-year-old woman was attacked and raped in her home.
*6 June 2013: Centurion, Gauteng: Hanu Krause was attacked by Black men. He was stabbed and beaten and is currently in the Unitas Hospital. He suffered a concussion and several stab wounds.
*6 June 2013: Brakpan, Gauteng: Martie de Beer (39) was attacked by 4 black men in front of her home at 5.30am when leaving for work. She was badly beaten and her can was stolen.
*6 June 2013: Richmond, Northern Cape: Piet Schrooder (70) was attacked on his farm by 3 Black men. He was stabbed but survived. This was the 3rd attack on him.
*7 June 2013: Pietermartizburg, Natal: The body of Mr. Koen, who went missing a couple of days ago, was found this morning. He was highjacked, murdered and dumped next to the road.
*8 June 2013: Panbult, Mpumalanga: Bernie van Zyl wat attacked on his farm. His attackers repeatedly hit him on the head with a gun. He was found unconscious by his partner when she returned home.
*8 June 2013: Lichtenburg, Northwest: Regard Hansen was attacked on his farm and severely injured. He is currently in hospital.
*8 June 2013: Welkom , Free State: Marie Ripley (82) was attacked in her home by 3 black men. She was strangled, beaten and a sheet was stuffed down her throat. They stole her money and jewelry.
*8 June 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: A family was attacked in Birdflower Street on their Kameeldrift West smallholding by 5 Black men. They were beaten, tied up and held hostage for 4 hours before they were robbed.
*8 June 2013: Gravelotte, Limpopo: Melinda Lee Bam (30) was shot to death in her bed when 3 black men gained entry to their chalet on the Bonlati Game Farm. Her partner, Francois Visagie (30) was shot 3 times, but survived. The 4 children that accompanied them, locked themselves in a room during the attack. The murderers stole a cellphone, a bit of cash and a loaf of bread.
*9 June 2013: Ladybrand, Free State: Meril Luck (59) was attacked by 2 Black men at the nursery. One of the attackers beat her up badly, demanding money, when another stood guard. She managed to call for help while 1 of her attackers was trying to open the safe.
*10 June 2013: Hole in the Wall, Eastern Cape: Michael Quin (52) was murdered in his brother’s house where he was staying while doing work in the Transkei.
*11 June 2013: Malelane, Mpumalanga: Noël McSeveney (57) and his wife, Alta, were ambushed when arriving at their farm by 2 Black men. Noël was shot and his wife brutally attacked and beaten over the head. They are both currently in hospital.
*12 June 2013: Carletonville, Gauteng: Drienie Nortje (68) was attacked in her home in the early hours of the morning by 2 black men. She was beaten over the head with a wrench. She managed to escape and lock herself in her bedroom and call for help. She is currently in hospital.
*13 June 2013: Birch Acres, Gauteng: An elderly couple was attacked in their home by 3 black men. The 70-year-old man was repeatedly stabbed, they were tied up and robbed.
*13 June 2013: Kloof, Natal: Kerry Savin was attacked at her home when she went outside to get the mail. Her attacker stabbed her 12 times with a knife and fled without taking anything.
*15 June 2013: Hofmeyr, Eastern Cape: Louis Traut, (80) his wife and 2 daughters were attacked on the farm Doornkop by 3 black men. They stabbed Louis to death. His wife and daughters were also injured but survived. They fled with weapons, cash and a cellphone.
*16 June 2013: Olifantshoek, Northern Cape: Herman van der Schyff (34) was attacked by black men while on security duty at an abattoir. They tied him up and stabbed him to death. They fled with his cellphone and wallet.
*16 June 2013: Rustenburg, Northwest: Le Roux Minnaar and a friend were attaked near “At se Gat” by 3 Black men. They were tied up, beaten and robbed of their Cellphones and cash. The armed attackers shot at them, but missed.
*17 June 2013: Westville, Natal: Basil Miller (68) and his wife Bea (66) were attacked in their home by 5 armed black men. They were tortured, kicked and beaten for 2 hours before the gang fled with their car and goods stolen from their home.
*18 June 2013: East Londen, Eastern Cape: Eugene Preston (70) was attacked at 6am while getting in his car in St James Road. He suffered serious head injuries and a broken arm. Nothing was stolen. He died of his injuries in hospital.
*19 June 2013: Zeerust, Northwest: Tom en Irene Kirstein were attacked on their farm by a group of Black men. They were brutally assaulted and robbed.
*19 June 2013: Johannesburg, Gauteng: Johannesburg Business man, Jeffery Wiggill (59) was highjacked and murdered. His body was dumped in Soweto next to his vehicle. Only his cellphone and wallet was stolen.
*20 June 2013: Naboomspruit, Limpopo: 3 Black men attacked the Plank-family on their farm. They were tied up and assaulted. The attackers fled when help arrived.
*20 June 2013: Schoemanskloof, Mpumalanga: Schalk Blom was attacked on his farm by 6 Black men. He was beaten, tied up and robbed.
*21 June 2013: Johannesburg, Gauteng: Garth du Preez (19) was attacked at a traffic light by a Black man. His car window was shattered and Garth was set alight. He sustained serious burns to his face, neck, torso and hands and is currently in ICU under sedation.
*21 June 2013: Sasolburg, Free State: A group of friends were walking to a restaurant in town when they were attacked by 3 Black men. One of the boys, Barend Nel (19) was stabbed to death. The attackers fled with his cellphone.
*21 June 2013: Amanzimtoti, Natal: John Hatfield (42) was attacked by 7 black men armed with knives while taking a walk in his neighborhood. They stabbed him several times and ran off, taking nothing. He died in hospital the next day.
*23 June 2013: Knysna, Western Cape: An elderly couple was brutally assaulted and robbed at their place of business. They were held up with guns, the man was tied up and the woman was beaten over the head with a steel rod.
*23 June 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: A group of students were attacked in their commune by a gang of armed black men. One of the students tried to call the police for help. Another one of the students, Wayne (23) defended his friend from an attacker who was assaulting her. He managed to save her from her attacker with his sword but was cut in the process.
*25 June 2013: Waterfall, Natal: Pauline Kleve (73) was attacked in her home by a gang of black men. They poisoned both her dogs, assaulted her and fled in her car. Pauline was widowed shortly before this incident and the attackers took off with her husband’s ashes because they thought the fase was valuable.
*26 June 2013: Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng: Roelof du Plessis (51), his wife Laura and their 19-year-old Son were attacked on their smallholding by a gang of Black men. They gained entry to the Son’s bedroom and started assaulting him. His parents woke from the commotion and found him in the living room where he was being assaulted. The attackers shot Roelof several times and fled. He died on the scene. Nothing was stolen.
*27 June 2013: Rustenburg, Northwest: Elderly couple, Dawie Kruger and his wife were attacked on their farm by 2 Black men. They were beaten and dragged around the house. They managed to alert the Community Police. Chris Lombard from the CPF arrived and was stabbed with a knife. He managed to shoot 1 of the attackers.
*27 June 2013: Cookhouse, Eastern Cape: Frank du Plessis and his wife, Betsy, were attacked on their farm by 2 Black men. Betsy was assaulted and Frank was stabbed to death.
*27 June 2013: Burgersfort, Mpumalanga: Retired Principal, Johan Gouws, and his wife, were attacked on their farm outside Burgersfort by 3 black men. They were tied up, held up with guns, assaulted and robbed.
*29 June 2013: Potchefstroom, Northwest: Willem van der Westhuizen (22) was attacked while walking home. He was stabbed to death. His attackers fled with his cellphone.
*1 July 2013: Struisbaai, Western Cape: Rex and Irma van Zyl were assaulted in their home by a black man. Rex was badly beaten. Their attacker fled with R50 and a packet of cigarettes.
*1 July 2013: Port Edward, Natal: A mother and her 2 daughters, on holiday from Pretoria, were attacked by a gang of black men while taking a stroll to the beach. They were brutally assaulted and robbed.
*1 July 2013: Springs, Gauteng: Elderly couple, Dirk and Rita Koekemoer, were attacked by a gang of black men when getting into their car. Dirk was stabbed several times and thrown on the back of his LDV. Rita was assaulted and also put in the back of the vehicle. They were dumped in the veld some distance from town. Dirk died from his wounds and Rita spent the entire night searching for help. She was eventually found the next morning. She is in hospital.
*2 July 2013: Johannesburg, Gauteng: Brian Shalkof (65) dies after he and his partner were brutally assaulted and robbed by 4 balck men. He suffered serious head and internal injuries.
*2 July 2013: Port Elizabeth, Eatern Cape: Andrew Brown (42) was shot to death by a black man while on duty as a security officer.
*3 July 2013: St. Francis Bay, Eastern Cape: An elderly man was stabbed in his face at his home by a black attacker. He is currently in a serious condition in hospital.
*5 July 2013: Piet Retief, Mpumalanga: Elderly farmer, Vic Mohle, was attacked on his farm road by a group of black men. He was assaulted and shot in the leg. They took off with his LDV. He was only found the next morning.
*5 July 2013: Kempton Park, Gauteng: Raymond Els (17) and a friend were attacked by 3 black men while on their way to the Festival Mall. Raymond was assaulted and kicked until het lost consciousness and his friend was held up with a knife and robbed
*6 July 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: Jerome (22) was attacked in his parents home on their smallholding. He was assaulted and shot in the back when he tried to escape. He is currently in a serious condition in hospital.
*7 July 2013: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape: Clyde Byrns (26) was stabbed to death by a gang of black men who attempted to mug his girlfriend.
*8 July 2013: Clocolan, Free State: Isabel Hugo (67) dies almost a year after being hit by a rock thrown at her during an attempted land grab in Clocolan. She suffered serious brain damage and never recovered from her injuries.
*9 July 2013: Pretoria, Gauteng: The Potgieter-family was attacked on their smallholding by a gang of black men. Rudolph Potgieter (45) and his son, Colin (25) were both shot and are recovering in hospital. A bullet is still lodged in Colin’s spine.
*12 July 2013: Saldanah, Western Cape: Onica Bakkes (25) was assaulted, beaten over the head and stabbed to death.
*12 July 2013: Parkhurst, Gauteng: 82-year-old Mrs. Forleo was attacked in her home at 10 am. She was severely beaten and left bleeding while the attacker ransacked her home. She is recovering in hospital.
*14 July 2013: Molteno, Eastern Cape: Lizelle le Roux (42) was attacked and stabbed to death while walking on her parent’s farm by a gang of black men busy stealing sheep.
*16 July 2013: Montague, Western Cape: Robert Bader and his daughter were attacked at his place of business by a gang of armed black men. Bader was shot dead and his daughter injured.
*17 Jule 2013: Rustenburg, Northwest: Bossie Barnard died after being shot the previous day when he happened to drive by as a gang of black men were bombing an ATM. He was shot in his leg. He was taken to hospital but discharged the next morning without receiving any treatment and died on the hospital premises.
*18 July 2013: Evander, Mpumalanga: A family was attacked in their home and threatened and tortured for 8 hours by 3 black men. Monica and her 2 year-old son were tied together and made to sit on the floor along with Johan and the other kids. They had to urinate on the floor as they could not use the bathroom. Their dinner was devoured in front of them and they were continually threatened with loaded guns while the gang ransacked their home, loaded all their belongings into the family vehicle and eventually left at 2am.
*18 July 2013: Rayton, Gauteng: Gideon Niemand (19) jumped on the back of his father’s LDV, trying to prevent a highjacker from getting away with the vehicle. The highjacker lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a concrete wall. Gideon was badly injured and taken to hospital where it has since been established that he suffered serious brain damage.
*18 July 2013: Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng: Judith Christina Müller (84) was strangled to death in her home.
*20 July 2013: Sabie, Mpumalanga: Ben Oberholzer and his family were attacked in their home by 3 black men. He was shot in his shoulder and right arm and is currently in hospital.
*23 July 2013: Kloof, Natal: Bruce Galloway (59) was abducted from his home at 4 am in the morning while on his way to a meeting in Mthata. His abductors stole his money, forced him into their vehicle and threw him off a cliff some distance from his home. He was discovered 2 days later by a group of students. He was still alive but hurt. His ring finger was almost amputated in an attempt to steal his wedding ring. He is currently is hospital.
*23 July 2013: Krugersdorp, Gauteng: Neil Muller was shot dead in the driveway of his home in Luipaardsvlei by a gang of black men who tried to hidghjack his car.
*24 July 2013: Naboomspurit, Limpopo: Gerda Botha was attacked, stabbed with a knife and raped by her black gardener on her farm. She was stuffed into and walk-in fridge covered with bags and left for dead. The attacker fled on a stolen quad bike, dumped it in town and escaped in a taxi.
*24 July 2013: Randfontein, Gauteng: A 61-year old woman was brutally attacked in her home in Helikonpark by 2 black men. She was assaulted, continuously beaten and allegedly raped in broad daylight.
*25 July 2013: Alberton, Gauteng: Nicky Klopper was shot dead in his home in New Redruth by 2 attackers who also robbed him of his weapons.
*25 July 2013: Bloemfontein, Free State: Victoria James (34) was attacked by 4 black men armed with guns when she returned home from work. She was assaulted, forced into her home and robbed. The attackers fled and then withdrew R3500 from her bank account after forcing her to provide them with the pin.
*26 July 2013: Modderspruit, Mpumalanga: Berryl van den Berg was attacked, held up with knives and robbed at her home on the farm by 4 black men who were at the house earlier in the day pretending to look for work. Her husband asked them to leave, but they returned shortly after he left the house.
*26 July 2013: Hendrina, Mpumalanga: Claudi van der Merwe (33) was highjacked and murdered, her body dumped in a ditch on a farm road in the district and her car deserted 2km further down the road. Her throat was slit, she was stabbed, raped and found half-naked. Her attacker has since fled to Swaziland where he is believed to hide in the home of family.
*26 July 2013: Touwsrivier, Western Cape: Francois Prins was attacked on his smallholding in the early evening while out doing chores. His attacker assaulted and bit him and tried to strangle him. He fled when Mr. Prins’ housekeeper ran out of the house on hearing the commotion. The attacker was caught the next day. He had just been released after spending 3 years in prison.
*26 July 2013: Kempton Park, Gauteng: Mr. van Niekerk, a Rhodesfield resident, was attacked with a broken beer bottle and sustained injuries to his face, back and chest. He was attacked by 2 black men and nothing was stolen.
*27 July 2013: Witbank, Mpumalanga: Rynhard de Villiers survived an attempted highjacking during peak time traffic. When his attackers couldn’t manage to get his car, they demanded his cellphone and stabbed him in his back 3 times with a sharpened butter knife.
*27 July 2013: Sasolburg, Free State: 2 White young men in their early 20′s were attacked, assaulted and tied up in their parents’ home in the early hours of Saturday morning 27 July 2013. Three armed Black men gained entry to their home in Cronje Street while they were asleep. They were held up with guns and one of the brothers was assaulted while the other was being tied up. After both of them were tied up, the attackers ransacked the house and fled in one of the brothers’ car with TV sets, cellphones, computers, linen, clothes and the content of the fridge.
*28 July 2013: Zeerust, Northwest: Elderly farmer, Hennie Enslin, was attacked and brutally assaulted on his farm Doringhoek. He is in hospital in a serious condition.
*28 July 2013: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape: An elderly couple were attacked in their home in Walmer Heights during the early hours of Monday morning. They tied up the 85-year old man and took home appliances.They then took the 77-year old woman with them and fled in the couples silver VW Polo. Police later found the woman and the vehicle in Walmer township.
*28 July 2013: Bloemfontein, Free State: Anna van der Walt (64) was attacked in her home by 3 black men. The was assaulted, hit over her head and tortured with a prodder and robbed of her cellphone and car. She is currently in hospital.
*28 July 2013: Greenhills, Gauteng: A 47-year-old man was brutally attacked in his home by 3 black men. He was severely beaten and robbed of his cellphone. He is currently in Hospital. 1 of his attackers was caught but the other 2 managed to escape.
*29 July 2013: Richardsbay, Natal: The Da Costa-family were attacked at their home while preparing for a family dinner by two black men armed with a brick and a crowbar. One of the attackers ran straight at the elderly grandmother and attempted to hit her over the head with a brick. She protected her head with her arms got injured. Her granddaughter, Marlese, ran to her rescue and was hit over the head with a crowbar. She fell to the floor, bleeding profusely. Her father-in-law heard the commotion and fired shots at the attackers, wounding one while the other escaped.
*29 July 2013: Nigel, Gauteng: Elderly couple, Louis van Wyk (77) and Susarah Joubert (77), were attacked in their home by 2 black men. Susarah was severely injured during the attack and Louis, who was wheelchair-bound, was brutally beaten to death.
*29 July 2013: Witbank, Mpumalanga: The Van der Merwe-family were attacked in their home on the farm Zaaihoek by 2 black men. Francois van der merwe (35) was held at gunpoint and forced into his parents’ bedroom where all 3 of them were bound with cable ties. Francois was forced to open the safe and the attackers stole a 9mm pistol. They then tortured Francois with boiling water in an attempt to get money from him. His mother, Miemie, was also burnt with the boiling water and his father, Frans, was assaulted. The attackers fled in the family’s vehicle in which they loaded their loot. The vehicle was later discarded.
*29 July 2013: Pietermaritzburg, Natal: An 84-year-old Woman was attacked, assaulted and robbed twice in one week by a gang of 3 black men. On Saturday her neighbor arrived while she was being attacked and the 54-year-old neighbor was assaulted as well.
*30 July 2013: Johannesburg, Gauteng: Two elderly women, a mother and daughter aged 64 and 84, were found murdered in their townhouse in Bruma. Their hands were bound with cuffs and rope and cotton wool was stuffed down their throats. There gardener is being sought for their murders, but has since disappeared.
*31 July 2013: Heidelberg, Gauteng: George Deysel was attacked while at work at AVBOB. He was hacked with a machete and left for dead. He was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is currently in ICU.
